What to check before hitting the road

TYRES

Check for thinning treads, cuts or abnormalities on sidewalls, and consistent inflation pressure.

SUSPENSION

Look for suspension bushings that need lubricating or replacement, cracks or twisted components, and dented or leaking shocks.

CHASSIS

Corrosion, rusting and cracks should berepaired.

BRAKES

Check for worn brake pads and shoes, damage to brake drums and rotors, insufficient or contaminated brake fluid, malfunctioning or damaged brake lights.

ELECTRICAL/LIGHTING COMPONENTS

Change worn out batteries and mis-aimed or damaged headlights.

COOLING SYSTEM

Look for signs of corrosion or rust in radiator fluid, leaking radiator, bent fins.

STEERING

Watch out for looseness or damage to steering wheel, damage to power steering belts and hoses, and leaks in pump and reservoir.
