Space squeeze: Unfair to restrict season parking to red lots
I DISAGREE with Mr Chia Yeou Cheong's view ("Parking squeeze: Free up white spaces too"; May 5) that season parking ticket holders should be restricted to the red parking spaces.
The number of red parking spaces is insufficient for season parking ticket holders in most, if not all, HDB carparks.
While it would be most efficient not to draw any red spaces at all and allow parking in any of the spaces, it is unfair to season holders who have already paid for the right to park in the carpark.
It is unreasonable to expect them to park in another carpark outside their season parking ticket entitlement as they would have to make additional payment.
Visitors should respect the needs of residents.
Driving is about sharing road facilities and there is no need to feel frustrated not to be able to locate a parking space as one can always allow passengers to alight at a convenient location before parking in another carpark.
Alternatively, visitors may take public transport and park their cars in areas where they are season holders.
