Junction at Balestier hot zone for accidents?

A reader wrote in to our sister website, Stomp, to warn others about a hot zone for accidents in Singapore.

According to the reader, he said the junction between Balestier Road and Rangoon Road is very prone to traffic accidents.

The reader attributed the high accident rate to the width of the junction, which he said was particularly wide.

He said he was aware of the frequent accidents that occurred at the Balestier junction.

The reader explained: "I live near the area and there are always accidents here."

Driver of the black Hyundai (pictured above), he bemoaned that it was his turn to suffer an accident at the junction on Nov 8. He had gotten into an accident with a Comfort taxi.

The reader suggested: "Maybe another traffic light nearby will help slow the speed of cars passing through this junction and prevent accidents."

We're not sure whether the Land Transport Authority will put up an additional traffic light but we're sure about this - slow down if you're going to pass through a junction.

You never know when a foolish driver will appear and decide to ignore the red lights. Or even worse, a jaywalking pedestrian.
