Tips for a stress- free F1

The Singapore Grand Prix has come up with some pointers on how to enjoy the Formula One race - stress-free.

Slap on some sunblock and take along your sunglasses if you plan to arrive early at the Circuit Park (from 1pm to 5pm).

Take along the right ticket for the right day, especially for multi-day pass holders. Double-check before leaving home.

The less you carry, the faster security clearance will be. Avoid taking along food and large bags. Get online and check the Singapore GP website www.singaporegp.sg for a list of prohibited items.

Use public transport, as there will be road closures and a severe shortage of parking space.

Be prepared to walk. Wear comfortable walking shoes, so that you can enjoy the wide range of attractions around the Circuit Park.

Leave home early. Allow extra time for queuing up for security clearance.

Go to the right gate. Grandstand ticket-holders should use the preferred gate whose number is printed on the back of the tickets, as this will lead to the shortest route to the seats.

Children under seven are strongly advised against attending the race.

Parents will need to sign a waiver that absolves Singapore GP from responsibility and any liability arising from their bringing their children into the circuit. Children under four will not be admitted.

Booths will be open at Gates 1A, 2, 3, 5 and 7 to assist those with ticketing problems.

Pick up a map at the gates for a listing of all the F&B outlets, entertainment acts, and facilities such as medical posts.

Buy a $2 Survival Kit as you enter the gates. The kit consists of a poncho and earplugs - very handy.

Malls in the Marina area are still open for shopping.

Enjoy the early support races - the Aston Martin Asia Cup, Formula BMW Pacific, and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

It is cash payment at most F&B outlets in the Circuit Park, so go prepared. There are several ATMs, all of which are indicated on the map.

Go early or stay late for an array of top-notch live entertainment options.

Purchase from a range of official merchandise available only in the Circuit Park.

Be prepared to take about one to two hours to leave the circuit after the race.

MRT trains will run until 1.30am during the race weekend, so there is no need to rush.
