Ahmad (not his real name), 43, a cab driver for 10 years, has picked up his fair share of mainland Chinese sex workers.
Usually, they try to solicit his business because they have no money to pay for their fare, he told HerWorld.
Once, he picked up a prostitute outside a dingy pub in Sembawang.
"She was in her 30s and dress provocatively - in a see-through blouse, tight miniskirt and high heels," he recounted to HerWorld.
After reaching her destination, the passenger placed her hand on his shoulder. She told him in broken English that she didn't have enough money to pay.
But, she implied that she could 'do something for me', Ahmad exclaimed. "She made some crude gestures simulating a hand job!"
In the end, Ahmad refused and gave her a free ride out of pity.
For men who are on the road so much, it is not always easy to resist them.
Ken (not his real name), 48, a cabby of 15 years, explains that these girls really know how to seduce a man.
"For instance, they always like to sit up front next to me and while I'm driving, they will slip their hand up to my thigh and stroke it suggestively."
"I tell them to stop but they reply in Mandarin, 'Shuai ge (handsome guy), I have no business for quite a while, you want to give me business? We go wherever you want."
Out of frustration and exasperation, Ken told HerWorld he would "shove $5 in their hands" so they'd leave him alone!
Very good at 'eating ice-cream'
Apparently men are equally guilty of making sexual advances.
But unlike the women, they're not interested in free rides and are often harder to spot, even by seasoned drivers, HerWorld reported.
Paul, 45, a taxi driver of six years, told HerWorld he once picked up a man near Hong Lim Park at North Canal Road.
"He was in his late 30s and dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans." Paul said the passenger looked so decent that he didn't think twice about letting him into the cab.
However, on the way to the passenger's destination, he started to ask weird questions and said he was very good at "eating ice cream". The passenger tried to persuade Paul to drive to the carpark by the National Stadium to sample his services but Paul refused.
"He said even married drivers have enjoyed his blow jobs. He also told me that I can leave the meter running while he 'services' me!"
Paul told HerWorld he turned the passenger down despite the potential monetary gain. Eventually, the disappointed passenger asked to be driven back to North Canal Road.
"I felt sad for this lonely man," says Paul.
