Lancer Extreme Drive: The lowdown on the new Lancer

AsiaOne will be bringing you the lowdown on the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT as we participate in the first stunt-driving school in Singapore organised by local Mitsubishi distributor Cycle & Carriage.

Dubbed the Lancer Extreme Drive, the event will be held on Nov 1-2 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

Participants can expect rubber-burning excitement - we will learn how to execute a spectacular 180-Degree handbrake turn and also perform multiple 360-degree spins.

To top it off will be the "Mitsubishi Speedway Challenge" - a circuit of delicate slaloms, reverse parks and ABS stops.

It will be a test of precision driving as our driver pit his skills against the clock.

There will be two 4-hour sessions per day starting at 8am and 2pm.

All participants will be using the new 2009 Lancer EX GT as their stunt rides at the event.

The event is expected to be filled to its maximum capacity of 200 participants, Cycle & Carriage said.

"The idea behind the Lancer Extreme Drive stunt driving course is to demonstrate the handling capabilities of the Lancer EX", said Mr Alvyn Ang, General Manager for Mitsubishi Operations, Cycle & Carriage.

The stunt driving course will allow participants to "experience and push the car to its limits" in an exciting environment, Mr Ang added.

Undoubtedly, our driver will be doing that.

Will the car be up to par with the stunt drivers' expectations? Or will it be too difficult for our driver to keep up? Keep a lookout for next week's Lancer EX GT installment to find out!
