Impact so great driver flung up to roof

IT WAS an accident scene with a difference.

Like many vehicles involved in high-speed crashes, the car was in terrible shape:The windscreen smashed, the front bumper crumpled from the impact.

But where was the driver?

At around 4am on Sunday, residents in Seremban, Malaysia, were woken by a loud noise, reported Guang Ming Daily.

Startled, they stumbled out of their homes to find that a car had crashed through a barrier on a road nearby and hurtled down a slope on the other side before crashing into one of the houses below.

The residents took out their torchlights and examined the wreckage, but there was no one in the driver's seat.

The mystery of the missing driver was solved only later in the day.

Some residents were on their way to the mosque when they noticed a large hole in the roof of one of the houses. One of them climbed up to investigate, and discovered the driver's body.

The impact of the crash had flung him on the roof, more than 10m from his car. His body smashed a hole in the ceiling of the house, and his blood dripped into a puddle on the living room floor.

A police spokesman said that based on the skid marks at the scene, the driver - identified as barber C Suresh, 27 - was probably headed towards the city when he lost control of his car. The vehicle slammed into the barrier by the side of the road, then went down the slope before hitting a house.

No other casualties

Fortunately, none of the occupants were home, and there were no other casualties.

The impact of hitting the barrier may have propelled the driver out of the car, sending him crashing into the roof of the house.

Upon hearing about the accident, the owner of the house rushed home to find a hole in his ceiling and debris and blood all over the floor.

He told Guang Ming Daily that he stays in this house only occasionally.
