Can the passenger car seat be retrofitted for a wheelchair-bound passenger?

Can the passenger car seat be retrofitted for wheelchair-bound
passenger? Are there any regulations regarding this? Which models of
cars can this retrofit be done? Can you also advise on a few
suppliers/shops that I can go for this retrofit?

Based on our findings, any modification to seating arrangements - like
adding or removing seats; re-arranging seats; changing of seats - may
have impact safety requirements such as overloading and obstruction of
access to vehicle entrance.

Therefore, approval must be sought from LTA and submission of drawings
or sketches of the proposed seating arrangements is required for
evaluation and testing, before LTA confirms that the modification is
acceptable.

For more information, please call LTA at 1800 2255582 or click here

With regards to your enquiry on the retrofitting contractor for
wheelchair-bound passengers, you may wish to contact Handicaps Welfare
Association at 6254 3006 for more information.
