I have recently noticed oil leaks from my automatic transmission car, but have difficulty locating the source. What could be the possible fault?
First, check all oil levels, including that for the engine, power steering, transmission and brake fluids.
Next, determine the colour of the oil. Yellow oil would signal a leak of power steering oil while red oil would be transmission oil; brown or black oil means the engine oil is leaking.
The most common leak is at the engine oil drainage plug. Ideally, the washer should be replaced each time you change the engine oil. You run the risk of leaks if you reuse it.
