When idling at the lights, my car shakes and makes some noises. This started when I scraped the exhaust muffler against the kerb a few days ago. Also, since the incident, the engine sounds very loud and revs higher than usual when I start it. What should I do?

You could have damaged the car's tailpipe as well as its oxygen sensor (located in the exhaust system).

Have it checked by a workshop as soon as possible because besides making unpleasant and loud noises, a damaged exhaust system restricts the flow of exhaust which can increase your car's fuel consumption.

In addition, a defective oxygen sensor could also cause premature failure of your catalytic converter.
