My car's brake pedal has suddenly become very stiff when I step on it. Is the brake booster faulty?

If it requires a lot of force to press the brake pedal, the problem could be due to one or more of the following: a faulty power brake booster, a faulty vacuum line or the brake line is pinched.

Do ensure that your floor mat or other objects are not stuck under the brake pedal, thus interfering with pedal movement.
