OF LATE, whenever I brake while travelling at high speeds, I feel some vibration on the steering wheel as well as the car in general. This does not occur when the car is at cruising speeds or stationary. What could be the problem? Could it be due to worn brake pads or wheel alignment problems?
CHECK the brake rotors (the discs) to see if they are warped, uneven or worn. If they are warped or too worn, they have to be replaced. But if they are uneven, they can be machined.
Also, inspect the brake callipers or the calliper bracket's mounting bolts for looseness. Replace worn callipers and tighten mounting bolts.
Worn wheel bearings could also cause the problem you described.
Finally, check your car's wheel alignment and make adjustments if necessary.
