>MY CAR, which has covered 120,000km, has started vibrating whenever I accelerate hard from a stationary position. I also hear noises from the front passenger's side, which are most audible around 15 to 20kmh, but fade away as the car picks up speed. What could be the problem?

CHECK the car's engine mounts, as the symptoms suggest that one of them is starting to deteriorate, allowing the engine to move to one side. This causes the exhaust system to come into contact with the underbody, thus creating the noises.
