I drive a 2005 automatic transmission car. Recently I realised that it is taking a longer time to change from first to second gear. Is this a serious problem? What could be the cause?

This could be a sign that the transmission fluid needs topping up or perhaps replacing.

If the transmission fluid is low, check for signs of a leak.

If not, the symptom could be because of a faulty actuating valve inside the gearbox.

You will need a specialist to diagnose the problem.
