Tyres wearing out in a 'cupped' pattern
Sat, Jun 30, 2007
The Straits Times

I HAVE new tyres which are starting to wear unevenly into a 'cupped' wear pattern. Is this because of the ride control parts?

THERE are many factors that can cause premature tyre wear, including inappropriate inflation, worn suspension or steering components, worn shock absorbers or struts and driving habits.

A 'cupped' wear pattern is typically caused by steering or suspension components that are worn out. Typically, worn suspension components (ball joints, control arm bushings, wheel bearings) will result in sporadic cupping patterns, while worn shocks and struts will leave a repeated cupping pattern.

Inspect all components for damage or excessive wear prior to replacement.
