SUVival: The Sequel

The trouble with sequels is that most of them have too much to live up to, and because of that, they often fall flat under the weight of expectation.

The first ever New Paper SUVival Challenge held last year saw 50 SUVs ferrying 160 participants who gamely tried to outplay, outrun, and outlast each other all the way to Desaru.

This year, the organisers are trying to outdo themselves.

They've gone the Hollywood route and made everything bigger, and better, which translates into double the number of teams and a longer distance to cover.

That's 100 teams, plus stops in Malacca, Sepang and Port Dickson over April 28th & 29th.

The not-so-good news is you won't win a million dollars, but you won't have to live off the land either. The prize for being top dog: $3,000 cash and $500 in petrol vouchers, which isn't half bad for two days of fun on, and off-road.

So, if you're itching to get your RAV4 or Pajero properly baptised with mud of various hues, and hear your engine roar as you overcome off-road obstacles, there's never been a better time.

We'll see you at tribal council.
