'F' is for Fast... and Final!

The penultimate session of MPT's popular Sprint/Supersprint 4-part series was held earlier this month on November 4th with the largest crowd this year in attendance.

Kallang Car Park 'F', just a stone's throw from the soon-to-be-torn-down National Stadium, was once again a hive of activity as motorsports fans and curious onlookers alike gathered to gawk at speed demons in their souped-up saloons and the babes basking in the scorching sun.

SPRINTS

Lester Wong lived up to his 'King of the Sprints' title yet again by rewriting his own record in the 201m sprint.

Wong's Mitsubishi Evolution VII clocked 7.05 seconds in the first round, 6.78 seconds in the second round and finally set the tarmac ablaze with 6.72 seconds in his last run, thus securing the Fastest Time of the Year Award (FTY) in the Turbo Category, and naturally the Fastest Timing of the Day (FTD) Award as well.

The FTY award for the Normally-Aspirated (N.A) category went to Eddie Ng who clocked 8.26 seconds in his Honda Civic EG VI in March this year.

The FTD Award for the N.A category went to Tan Jian Long and his Civic EK IV in a time of 8.82 seconds.

Tan also came out tops in Class 20A (N.A open class) with a time of 9.05 seconds. Hot on his heels were Derrick Ang (9.17 seconds), also in a Civic EK IV, and Wong Teck Yew (9.24 seconds) who drove a Ferio EG IX.

RACE QUEEN SEARCH

Easily the most photographed event of the day, twenty girls decked out in race queen regalia strutted their stuff in front of the predominantly male crowd.

Left: Eventual winner, Wendy Tow   Right: So many shutterbugs!

Despite having to put up with uncomfortable boots, cumbersome umbrellas, and cheeky photographers, they kept smiling throughout five gruelling segments held over six hours in the sweltering heat.

It was the cherubic Wendy Tow who eventually emerged victorious, with Ace Tay and Cindy Tan clinching second and third.
