Drive carefully, octopus ahead

The Straits Times

A FEW days ago, I had an amazing encounter. I saw an octopus behind the wheel of a car. It used its head and shoulder to hold its mobile phone, and while it was talking, its right arm was dangling a cigarette out of the window. It steered with its left arm, and as it was trying to reverse, I guessed it was using its left foot to shift gear and its right foot to work the pedals.

I could clearly see the octopus perform effortlessly as its windscreen was not tinted beyond the regulation level, as there are seemingly many driverless cars on the road nowadays.

I believe we have enough rules and regulations to keep animals and spirits off the road, but I think they get away with it because of lack of enforcement.

The next time I am on the road, I wish I could also have another pair of hands, so I could take a photo of these amazing animals.
