Bus captain sleeps while driving

An SBS Transit bus driver was caught dozing off at times during his journey, according to a report by citizen journalism website, Stomp.

An alert reader caught the driver yawning and even closing his eyes while driving.

The reader told Stomp that he was taking a westbound bus service 97, plate number SBS 9078, on May 22 when the incident occurred.

He told Stomp that he boarded the bus at Hong Leong Gardens shopping centre. He added that the bus arrived at Jurong East Interchange at about 7.35am.

"I noticed that during the entire journey, the bus captain seemed to be yawning non-stop."

"The bus also kept jerking."

"At times, I noticed that he even closed his eyes while driving.

"This kind of driving is very dangerous for the passengers on board the bus.

"I hope SBS Transit can look into this and see what can be done."
