Team by team analysis of S'pore GP

SINGAPORE - Team by team analysis of Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix (listed in current championship order):

- - - -

MCLAREN

Hamilton's ninth podium of the season stretched his lead to seven points after Ferrari failed to score. McLaren took the lead in the constructors' standings by a single point. Kovalainen banged wheels with Kubica on lap one, damaging the car's underfloor. He also had to wait behind Hamilton at the first pitstop and then had brake problems later on.

-

FERRARI

Massa went from first to last after a nightmare pitstop left his car trailing a broken fuel hose behind it down the pit lane. Raikkonen failed to score for the fourth race in a row and crashed out. Ferrari's first race this year without a point.

-

BMW-SAUBER

The Swiss-based team are now the only ones to have scored in every race. Kubica's race was ruined by the first safety car, the Pole having to pit for fuel when the pit lane was closed and collecting a penalty.

-

RENAULT

Alonso's first win since Italy with McLaren last year, Renault's first since 2006 and the 20th of the Spaniard's career. Starting 15th, he benefitted from the pitting before the first safety car was brought out by Piquet crashing. Renault move up to fourth overall.

-

TOYOTA

Glock ran second before the final pitstop, then held on for his third top four place of the year. Trulli drove a defensive first stint on a one-stop strategy, holding up much of the field, and then retired on lap 50 with hydraulic problems that robbed him of a possible fifth place.

-

TORO ROSSO

Vettel followed up his Italian GP win with another strong showing. He might have been fourth but lost a place to Glock when he missed a braking point.

-

RED BULL

Coulthard scored his first points in eight races, making it only his second scoring race of the year, to keep Red Bull ahead of Williams. His second pitstop was bungled, injuring a mechanic, but with less serious consequences than Massa's. Webber might have been on the podium had it not been for a mechanical failure.

-

WILLIAMS

Rosberg held on for his best result to date and only the second podium of his F1 career. Williams moved closer to Red Bull in the battle for seventh place.

-

HONDA

Barrichello retired when his car halted with an electrical problem shortly after his sole pitstop for fuel and tyres. Button was on a two-stop strategy.

-

FORCE INDIA

Fisichella started from the pit lane and ran briefly in third place, the highest the team has been this season, when others pitted. Sutil ran wide and into the barriers on lap 49 while following Massa, who had spun in front of him.
