SAO PAULO, Nov 2, 2008 (AFP) - Robert Kubica blamed his BMW Sauber team for making too many mistakes in Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix and costing him third place in the drivers world championship.

The 23-year-old Pole, the first and only man from his country to drive in Formula One, started the weekend with a six-points advantage over outgoing world champion Finn Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari.

But after finishing 11th and seeing the Ferrari man finish third, he ended up slipping down the standings as Raikkonen took third place.

"Losing third place in the drivers' championship in the last race is definitely not the best situation," he said.

"We made too many mistakes during the weekend and this is the result.

"At the start, unfortunately, I started on dry tyres, as we had the wrong information about the track conditions.

"And then during the race I was stuck behind Adrian Sutil for quite a long time. I managed to make up some positions in the final laps of the race, but it was too late.

"It was a bad finish, but overall the season was quite good."
