US F1 team will use Spain as European base

ABU DHABI, Oct 30 (Reuters) - The U.S. F1 team will use the Motorland Aragon circuit in northern Spain as their European base when they make their Formula One debut next season, they said in a statement on Friday.

The facility, near the town of Alcaniz, will be the team's European testing, racecar development and logistics headquarters.

"MotorLand Aragon is the ideal motorsports complex for US F1's European operation," said team sporting director Peter Windsor at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

"From the excellent location and weather, to the rich racing heritage and diverse track configurations, MotorLand provides America's first Formula One team in more than 40 years with the perfect facility to manage the 2010 season and train for 2011 and beyond."

The team's main factory is in Charlotte, North Carolina.
