Pirelli rules out supplying F1 tyres

By Nigel Tutt

MILAN, ITALY (Reuters) - Pirelli has ruled out replacing Bridgestone as Formula One tyre supplier from 2011, the Italian company said on Wednesday.

Bridgestone Corp, the sole supplier since 2007, announced on Monday it would not renew its contract after the end of the 2010 season. Michelin withdrew after the 2006 season.

"Pirelli's previous position on F1 hasn't changed. Pirelli prefers to develop tyres for racing that will also be used on the road. Pirelli sponsors Superbike, World Rally Championship and GT2," a spokeswoman said.
