F1: Senna determined to live up to famous name

PARIS - Brazilian driver Bruno Senna insisted on Saturday that he wants to prove to the entire world that the attention he generates has nothing to do with his famous uncle Ayrton Senna.

The 27-year-old nephew of the legendary three-times world champion finished ninth in his second outing for the Lotus Renault team at the Italian Grand Prix after replacing German Nick Heidfeld last month.

"Fans are more interested in me because of Ayrton and I understand that. But at the same time I have to prove to myself as well as the fans and the entire world that I deserve this type of attention," said Senna.

"Now is a good time for me to do a good job in Formula One and then I'll deserve this attention. I can't let this chance pass. I'm a little behind the other guys in terms of experience. I have to try and catch up with them."

Asked if he expected to be a regular team driver in 2011, Senna replied: "Honestly no. The intention at the beginning of the year was to work with the team, to learn as a reserve driver to have a chance next year. It's more than I hoped to achieve."

Team techncial director James Allison praised Senna.

"These past few years, several promising careers failed when drivers joined the championship in the middle of the season," he said. "With just one pre-season testing session Bruno impressed us by the way he seized his chance in Spa and then at Monza."
