Fast Lane: SUV face-lifts

Revised versions of Porsche's Cayenne SUV and its Volkswagen twin, the Touareg, will arrive in the latter half of this year.

The revamped Cayenne will feature engines that deliver more power and yet consume less fuel (up to 15 per cent less). The range-topper is a 500bhp Turbo. The Touareg will sport the marque's new full grille and re-profiled headlights.

The car will have new technologies, including ABSPlus, which can cut braking distances by up to 20 per cent on loose surfaces. There is also a new option called Front Scan. This system uses a series of sensors linked to the car's adaptive cruise control to scan the road ahead for any dangers and can - if necessary - slow the vehicle to a complete halt.
