Fast Lane: Diesel Boxer

Subaru has made the world's first horizontally-opposed turbo-diesel engine. The all-wheel-drive specialist is renowned for its Boxer engines, which offer a lower centre of gravity and more stability. The diesel Boxer will be used in a new model due early next year. It is as compact as its petrol twin, and is said to be smooth and low on vibration.
