Benedict Goh, best known for his stint as host of game show "The Pyramid Game", is the latest celebrity to be charged with drink-driving and lying to the police.
The 37-year-old former TV game-show host, who now owns a spa, faces 4 charges in two separate courts.
In one court, he was charged with two drink-driving offences while in another court, he was accused of giving false information to Staff Sergeant Khoo Kok Min of the Traffic Police Department. He had lied that a Ms Tan Min Yee was driving his car along Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on Feb 18, 2004 when he was caught for driving while inebriated.
Goh failed the breathalyser test, which showed that he exceeded the allowed limit by 1 1/2 times. He was charged with being unfit to drive and lying to a police officer.
In another incident on Feb 10 this year, Goh was driving along the Ayer Rajah Expressway when his Chevrolet collided with a stationary car that had been involved in an accident earlier there.
Goh failed the breathalyser test again and was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without due care.
Goh's lawyer S.S. Dhillon told Traffic Court judge Terence Chua yesterday that he needed six weeks to make further representations.
Goh could be jailed for a maximum of six months and fined up to $1,000, or both, if he is convicted of the false-information charge.
On the drink-driving charge, he could be fined between $500 and $5,000 or jailed up to six months and banned from driving for at least at year.
