A 15-year-old boy sneaked off with his father's car on Tuesday morning while his parents were asleep.

He drove the car from their home in a Jurong East condominium and picked up three friends. Not long after, they came to a road block at Toh Guan Road in Jurong East but failed to stop.

The police gave chase over 4km before the car came to a stop after hitting a kerb. The boy was arrested at around 3.15am for driving without a licence and without the permission of the car's owner.

In another case, undergraduate Hnin Thazin was charged yesterday with causing death by negligent driving.

Hnin, 20, is accused of driving her car into the path of an oncoming motorcycle after overtaking a stationary vehicle on July 30 last year at 9.10pm. The two riders, Mr Koh Cheng Yong, 52, and his wife, Madam Teo Keok Hwa, 50, suffered serious injuries in the collision along Jurong East Street 21 and died in the hospital.

It was not mentioned where Hnin, who is out on $10,000 bail, is studying. If convicted, she could be jailed for up to two years, fined or get both.
