BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Felipe Massa of Ferrari won his second straight Formula One race Sunday at the Spanish Grand Prix, and McLaren's Lewis Hamilton moved into sole possession of first place in the driver's standings by finishing second.

Two-time defending world champion Fernando Alonso of McLaren, also the defending champion in Barcelona, was third.

Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari, who started third, was forced to retire due to an electrical fault.

Hamilton, racing in F1 for the first time this season, is the youngest driver to lead the standings. He has 30 points. Alonso is second with 28 points and Massa is third with 27.

BMW-Sauber's Robert Kubica finished fourth.

Massa led from start to finish to beat Hamilton, who is the first rookie driver to reach the podium in his first four races, by 6.7 seconds. Alonso finished 17.4 seconds behind Massa.

Massa pumped his fists as he stood atop his car before running into the arms of Ferrari boss Jean Todt to celebrate his third career win.

Unlike at the Malaysian GP where Alonso won, Massa defended his pole position against the Spaniard, pushing Alonso out wide and into the gravel after he tried to overtake the Brazilian and their tires touched around the first bend.

Alonso drove back onto the track and nearly sideswiped Hamilton and Raikkonen, who were running 2-3 after Hamilton overtook the Finn around the opening corner.

As Massa saw his lead grow to five seconds, the field started to deplete with Raikkonen retiring.

Massa led Hamilton by more than seven seconds after 10 laps, while Hamilton stayed five seconds in front of Alonso.

Nick Heidfeld took the lead after Hamilton pitted on the 22nd lap of the 4.655-kilometer (2.892-mile) Circuit de Catalunya course. The German, who finished fourth in the first three races, pulled out early and lost his front right wheel nut. He was forced to go around with ease and return to the garage, dropping to 13th before eventually retiring after 47 laps.

Halfway through the race, Massa had opened up a 15-second lead on Hamilton, while Alonso was 28 seconds back, about two seconds ahead of Kubica.

Though Hamilton closed the gap between him and Massa over the final 10 laps, Massa become the first multiple race winner of 2007.
