Fast lane: Sebring drops its top

CABRIOLETS have always been desirable. Those with foldable hard-tops have a measure of practicality too. But unless you buy one from Bentley or Rolls-Royce, it is unlikely you'll be able to carry much luggage in a cabrio. Until now.

Chrysler's new Sebring Convertible - arriving towards the end of the year - will accommodate two golf bags in the boot even when its three-piece metallic roof is retracted.

Its cabin is roomier than a Mercedes-Benz CLK's. For those who don't want a hard-top, the car has vinyl and canvas options too - making it the only convertible to offer such choices.

Engines range from a 2.4 four-cylinder to a3.5-litre V6.
