The New Paper

SHE was driving out of her condominium's multi-storey carpark when she lost control of her car.

Madam Chan Chen Nee, 27, and her vehicle crashed through a wall and plunged six floors to the ground.

The car landed on its roof, reported the New Straits Times. But the accounts clerk managed to cheat death - she survived the 20m drop. She walked away with a broken left hand, cuts and bruises.

Madam Chan was believed to have been on her way to work when the accident happened at 8.15am at the Mutiara Heights apartment complex in Jelutong, Penang. Passerbys who saw what happened rushed to her aid.

They called the fire and rescue services department when they saw Madam Chan pinned between her seat and the steering wheel.

It took rescue workers just five minutes to extricate her from the wreck of her Proton Iswara, and she was sent to hospital for treatment.

A resident at the condominium, who gave his name as Mr Chen, told China Press that two other cars had smashed into the wall of the carpark previously.

But the accidents were less serious as the cars did not plummet downstairs like Madam Chan???s.

LUCKY

He added it was lucky that no one had been walking below the carpark when the car fell.

Madam Chan's husband, who wanted to be identified only as Mr Teh, told NST that he was at work when a friend informed him that his wife had been involved in an accident.

The 29-year-old technician said: "I rushed home but an ambulance had already taken her to the hospital.

"I am not sure what exactly happened but am thankful that she did not suffer any serious injury."
