MAGNY-COURS, France, June 30 (Reuters) - BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was cleared to drive in Sunday's French Grand Prix after receiving treatment for back pain on Saturday.

"Nick saw the doctor, he got treatment," said a team spokesman. "He had a muscle cramp on his back, he will drive."

Heidfeld aroused fears that he might have to withdraw from the eighth race of the season when he cut short practice on Friday complaining of a recurrence of the problem he had suffered in Formula One testing at Silverstone last week.

His Polish team mate, Robert Kubica, has only just returned from injury after crashing heavily in Canada and missing the following U.S. Grand Prix.
