The stock market rebound probably boosted bids for August's 1st Certificate of Entitilement (COE) bidding exercise which saw premiums going up in every category.

The greatest increase was for the Cat C COEs, used for goods vehicles and buses which increased to $5,767 from last month's $3,889.

Not to be outbid is the premium for cars under 1600cc and taxis (Cat A), with 2,632 bids received for the 2,168 entitlements available. The price rose by $1,001 from last month to end off at $17,001.

Cat B COEs crept up to $18,001, an increase of $399 from last month's $17,602.

COE bidding for motorcycles (Cat D) was also active, with nearly double the bids received for the allocated quota. August's premium ended around 20 per cent higher at $1,251.

With 60 per cent more bids received then the available quota, the Open category's (Cat E) premium closed at $18,003.
