Fastlane: Borneo fights back

TO DRUM up sales, Toyota distributor Borneo Motors is throwing in free servicing and Bluetooth hands-free phone sets with Lexus cars bought during its 'December To Remember' campaign.

It sold 1,349 Lexus cars in the first nine months of this year - down from 1,591 in the same period last year. The drop in sales has to do with the absence of the ES range, which was withdrawn by Toyota Motor last year.

The good news for well-heeled buyers is that the facelifted Lexus GS300 is now jam-packed with goodies. The sporty sedan now has adaptive variable suspension, which automatically adjusts the car's damping characteristics to suit driving conditions.

It also has Toyota's vehicle dynamics integrated management - an advanced stability assist programme.

Not only that, Mark Levinson's 14-speaker entertainment system comes as standard issue.
