Ford unveils car inspired by Steve McQueen's 'Bullitt'
>LOS ANGELES, Nov 14, 2007 (AFP) - US carmakers Ford unveiled an updated version of its iconic Mustang car inspired by the classic Steve McQueen film "Bullitt" at the LA Auto Show here Wednesday.

Only 7,700 of the special edition "Bullitt" will go on sale in North America next year, 40 years after the company's Mustang GT Fastback was immortalised by McQueen in the movie of the same name.

The car boasts a 4.6 liter V8 engine with a meaty 315 horsepower, Ford officials said.

The car will be sold in the same dark green as McQueen's car in the film, which became famous for its hair-raising car chase through the streets of San
Francisco.
