CBD area gets 15 new taxi stands

THE Land Transport Authority has installed 15 new taxi stands in the Central Business District (CBD).

This brings the total number of taxi stands in the CBD to 95.

From March, passengers can hop into a cab only from taxi stands or private driveways.

This new ruling is meant to improve road safety, LTA said when announcing it in Novemeber.

With the new stands, commuters will be able to find a taxi stand within 300m, or a five-minute walk, of most buildings in the CBD.

The new taxi stands are at the following locations:

  • Amoy Street, behind Thian Hock Keng Temple 
  • Armenian Street, in front of the Asian Civilisation Museum 
  • Clemenceau Avenue, in front of Haw Par Glass Centre 
  • Cook Street behind Murray Terrace Food Alley 
  • Kreta Ayer Road, in front of Oriental Plaza 
  • Neil Road, in front of Chinatown Plaza 
  • Old Parliament Lane, behind Victoria Theatre 
  • Peak Seah Street, behind Red Dot Traffic 
  • Penang Road, opposite Regency House, 
  • Purvis Street, opposite shop house no. 24 
  • Sago Lane, oustide the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum 
  • Short Street, near La Salle Arts College 
  • Stamford Road, at the Singapore Management University School of Economics and Social Sciences 
  • Tan Tye Place, at Clarke Quay 
  • Waterloo Street, at the Stamford Arts Centre
