>IT looks like the new Toyota Corolla Altis might just kickstart the sleepy new car market. More than 300 people have put down a $4,200 deposit for it. But authorised distributor Borneo Motors Singapore declines to call them 'orders' because the deposits are fully refundable. The reason is the price of the car is yet to be confirmed, as the company is said to be still in talks with Toyota. 'The level of interest is very high,' said a senior Borneo executive, adding that the 10th generation Corolla will be launched early in March. As with the previous generation, both the 1.6 and 1.8-litre versions of the Corolla will be available. The regular price of the old 1.6 model used to be about $62,000, although it went down to as low as $56,000 late last year when Borneo was clearing stocks. The new car is widely seen to be priced at $67,000 although Borneo will only say it will be 'below $70,000'.
