Driving notes: A new beginning
>HYUNDAI is ready to enter the premium league and do battle with Lexus. At this weekend's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Korean carmaker is unveiling an all-new model called the Genesis. This mid-sized sports-luxury sedan will be the first to use Hyundai's new rear-wheel-drive architecture.

Developed over four years at a cost of 500 billion won (S$763.8 million), the Genesis boasts 53:47 front/rear weight distribution for dynamic handling. There are 3.3 and 3.8-litre engines - both V6 - and a top-of-the-line 4.8-litre V8 unit. The V8 is said to churn out more than 300 hp and can power the Genesis from zero to 100 kmh in under six seconds.

There's only one problem for interested Singapore buyers, though - the car is only produced in left-hand-drive.
