Driving notes: Smaller Hummer
>ALSO debuting in Detroit is the Hummer HX concept. Likely to be the new H4, it is the smallest Hummer to date. With an eye on the current high price of gasoline, the HX has a 3.6-litre FlexFuel V6 engine that can run on petrol or a blend of petrol and ethanol. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard.

Permanent four-wheel-drive with front and rear locking differentials allows this compact and nimble vehicle to be a credible off-roader. What's interesting is that the instruments can be reconfigured for highway or off-road driving.

Along with a convertible body with removable roof panel, as well as removable fender flares and doors, the HX could be the ultimate fashion accessory.
