Fastlane: Audi's diesel R8

The Straits Times
>AUDI has showcased a diesel version of its stunning R8 sports car. If it proceeds to production, the R8 TDI with 500 horses and 1,000Nm of torque from its 6-litre V12 will be the world's first road-going oil-burning supercar.

It would not be entirely unexpected though, because Audi's trophy-winning R10 Le Mans racer is powered by diesel. The bi-turbo diesel will hit 100kmh in 4.2 seconds and attain a top speed of 299kmh. In addition, it will comply with Euro 6 emission standards, which won't be introduced till 2014.
