Mat Rempit ram into M'sian cops at roadblock

IPOH, MALAYSIA: Two police constables were injured when two Mat Rempit rammed into them at a roadblock in Jalan Kuala Kangsar.

The two and another Mat Rempit, all in their late 20s, tried to speed through the roadblock - part of Ops Sikap XVI - but ended up crashing their machines onto the policemen.

The third Mat Rempit rammed onto the back of a patrol vehicle.

The bikers were subsequently detained and their machines confiscated. They were not injured.

One of the constables was injured on his left shoulders and head while the other suffered bruises on his right knee. Both were treated at the Ipoh Hospital.

The operation, jointly conducted by the police, Road Transport Department and Rela to counter illegal racing, also saw the detention of 66 Mat Rempit aged between 16 and 28.

Among those detained were 10 secondary school and three tertiary-level students.
