Cop killed in road accident on his way to work

A POLICE officer died after his motorcyle was involved in an accident with a van at the junction of Eu Tong Seng Street and Hospital Drive at about 9.30 am on Wednesday.

Corporal Abdul Halim bin Abdul Samad, 22, was on his way to work when the accident happened. He was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics at about 9.40 am.

Police said the officer, who was posted to Central Police Division after joining the force in 2007, was due to report for work at 10 am for routine security duties at Parliament House.

Police Commissioner Khoo Boon Hui, expressing his condolence to Cpl Abdul Halim's family, said on Wednesday: 'I am saddened by the sudden loss of such a young officer in the line of duty.'

'We wil do everything possible to assist the family to get through these difficult times.'
