Raikkonen interested in trying MotoGP bike

MANAMA, April 3 (Reuters) - Formula One world champion Kimi Raikkonen said on Thursday he would like to follow his Ferrari predecessor Michael Schumacher in trying out a MotoGP bike.

Schumacher, the seven times world champion who retired at the end of 2006, took part in his first competitive motorcycle race in Italy at the weekend after previously trying out Ducati's MotoGP machine.

"I only saw some pictures but I don't know anything about it," Raikkonen told reporters at the Bahrain Grand Prix when asked if he seen Schumacher's race.

"I never tried road racing. I have done motocross often and that is more normal for me," added the Finn, who is chasing his second Formula One victory in a row on Sunday after last month's triumph in Malaysia.

"For sure I want to try the MotoGP bikes once, but we'll see."

Schumacher, who finished fourth in his KTM minor series race at Misano on Sunday and recorded the second fastest lap, was again testing a Ducati MotoGP bike at Mugello, Italy on Thursday.

"It was a nice surprise yesterday when I received the sudden offer to come to Mugello today," he told his official Web site (www.michael-schumacher.de).

"And despite the difficult weather conditions it was again a lot of fun to ride the Ducati. But I repeat it very clearly that I have no intention at all of stepping into any kind of MotoGP competitions."
