Fastlane: Merc favours turbocharging

>MERCEDES-BENZ will drop supercharging in favour of turbocharging for refinement and economy reasons. The German luxury marque's supercharging history goes back more than six decades, but it did not employ the mechanical forced induction method consistently through the years. Its current Kompressor line-up is only about 10 years old. Elsewhere, a British company called Controlled Power Technologies is presenting a new electric supercharging system that is said to make smaller engines more efficient.
