A 27-YEAR-OLD Malaysian cyclist died after he was hit by a private ambulance at the junction of the Central Expressway (CTE) and the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 on Sunday morning.

The ambulance was exiting the CTE at about 9am and hit the cyclist who was riding across a signalised pedestrian crossing.

The impact threw the cyclist off his bicycle. He sustained serious injuries and was taken unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was declared dead half an hour later.

There were no patients in the ambulance at the time and the 21-year-old driver was unhurt.

Witnesses can call the Traffic Police hotline on 1800-547-1818.
