Three passengers were injured when an express bus rammed into a lorry at Km94.8 of the East Coast Highway yesterday.

The feet of passenger Muhamad Zuhairi Wahab, 33, were severed while two women in their 50s suffered minor injuries in the 3.30am accident.

They were sent to Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for treatment. Muhamad Zuhairi, a bus conductor from Pekan, was sitting in the co-driver?s seat when the accident happened.

It is learnt that the second driver was sleeping at the back seat at that time. Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Fadzilah Mohamed said the bus, carrying 35 passengers, crashed into the slow-moving lorry at a steep stretch.

Both vehicles were on the way to Kuala Lumpur from Tasik Kenyir and Kuala Terengganu respectively.
