A MAN who stole and misappropriated about 460 CashCards from all over Singapore was jailed for 12 months on Monday.

Part-time house mover Lim Chin Poh, 48, pleaded guilty last week to 20 charges committed at unknown and numerous Housing Board carparks from last October to January.

Another 439 criminal misappropriation charges were taken into consideration.

The court heard that he targeted unlocked vehicles or those left unattended while making delivery.

He would then deposit the stored value in the CashCards into his Post Office Savings Bank account.

The total value of the CashCards was $8,370.

His lawyer Dinagaran said his client committed the offences after losing his job as a lorry driver last September.

Lim could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined for theft. For criminal misappropriation, the maximum penalty is two years jail and a fine.
