Sacrifice for a greater good

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Petrol station operators at border towns may have to sacrifice sales so that foreigners do not gain from government subsidies meant for locals.

Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) vice-president Abu Samah Bachik said these dealers would have to suffer lower sales, but it would be for a good cause.

"Their sacrifice is aimed at prudent use of government subsidies.

"Dealers will have to assist the Government at a time when petrol prices have skyrocketed," he said.

"The Government will have to identify which are the petrol stations that cannot sell petrol to foreigners."
