Hilux highway patrol?

Spotted on Bartley Road: an aging Toyota Hilux van complete with highway patrol livery and flashing blue lights, stopping a motorcyclist for traffic violation (presumably speeding).

Is the Traffic Police taking cost-cutting to the extreme?

In response to our query, police say the van is not a patrol vehicle. Instead, its spokesman says the Toyota is used to transport staff.'A police officer who comes across an offence, while travelling in any form of transport used for official purposes, can take action,' he added.

He could not say why the transportation van was done up in highway patrol colours.
