MPV lands on car, killing three in family

PETALING JAYA: Three members of a family were killed when a multi-purpose vehicle landed on their car after going over a curb in Puchong Perdana yesterday.

Minun Aman, 52, and her children, Nor Hidayu and Mohd Azmi Abdul Jalil, 23 and 34 respectively, died on the spot in the 2pm incident at Km15 Jalan Meranti Jaya.

It took firemen 20 minutes to extricate the three bodies from the vehicle.

Witnesses said the driver of the MPV which landed on the car limped away from the scene without so much as a glance at the wrecked car the family was travelling in.

They told police the MPV was being driven at high speed when it hit the curb, causing the vehicle to go airborne.
It flew to the opposite lane and landed on the car, before ending up in a drain.

The victims were believed to be on their way to a cemetery to pay their respects to a relative when the accident happened.

Traffic came to a standstill on Jalan Puchong Perdana for two hours as firemen extricated the bodies and workers cleared the wreckage from the scene.

The bodies of the victims were sent to the Serdang hospital.

A district traffic police spokesman urged witnesses to contact the nearest police station to assist in investigations.
